Can somebody help to review the patch of OPENJPA-1992?

Hi devs,

I encourtered an exception when using OPENJPA v2.1.0. I had a JIRA opened
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OPENJPA-1992, and also have a patch
attached in the JIRA. Can somebody help to review it?

Thanks in advance.
