Subversion client and server compatibility (Was: Performance of SVN on Windows and Linux)

What  good would Subversion be if the Linux client would only work
with the Linux (or even Windows) server?

Ofcourse all components are compatible with each other.

BTW: Next time, please start a new subject instead of high-jacking
another thread. Your question was not performance related.
