Mailet SDK...?

i've been taking a look at the 2.3.0b3 binaries and i'm a little confused by
the MailetSDK binary distribution. i expected this distribution to make it
easy to get started with maillet development but i don't really understand
how the MailetSDK achieves this.

am i just confused about the purpose of this distribution?
