Podling Report Reminder - October 2019
Dear podling,
This email was sent by an automated system on behalf of the Apache
Incubator PMC. It is an initial reminder to give you plenty of time to
prepare your quarterly board report.
The board meeting is scheduled for Wed, 16 October 2019, 10:30 am PDT.
The report for your podling will form a part of the Incubator PMC
report. The Incubator PMC requires your report to be submitted 2 weeks
before the board meeting, to allow sufficient time for review and
submission (Wed, October 02).
Please submit your report with sufficient time to allow the Incubator
PMC, and subsequently board members to review and digest. Again, the
very latest you should submit your report is 2 weeks prior to the board
meeting.
Candidate names should not be made public before people are actually
elected, so please do not include the names of potential committers or
PPMC members in your report.
Thanks,
The Apache Incubator PMC
Submitting your Report
----------------------
Your report should contain the following:
* Your project name
* A brief description of your project, which assumes no knowledge of
the project or necessarily of its field
* A list of the three most important issues to address in the move
towards graduation.
* Any issues that the Incubator PMC or ASF Board might wish/need to be
aware of
* How has the community developed since the last report
* How has the project developed since the last report.
* How does the podling rate their own maturity.
This should be appended to the Incubator Wiki page at:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/INCUBATOR/October2019
Note: This is manually populated. You may need to wait a little before
this page is created from a template.
Note: The format of the report has changed to use markdown.
Mentors
-------
Mentors should review reports for their project(s) and sign them off on
the Incubator wiki page. Signing off reports shows that you are
following the project - projects that are not signed may raise alarms
for the Incubator PMC.

The Mesatee podling is required to give reports to the incubator, initially monthly, then every three months. See below template.
I recommend you draft the report here on dev@mesatee and then submit it in the wiki as below **before the deadline**. I and other IPMC members can grant access in the wiki if needed.
As this is the first report it is sufficient to respond along the lines of "podling establishing" and report on what have already been initiated, which I think is:
* added to incubator / whimsy
* mentors added
* mailing lists created
..and what remains:
* PPMC members to subscribe to mailing lists (important!)
* PPMC members to send in ICLAs/CCLAs <https://www.apache.org/licenses/contributor-agreements.html>
* software grant (from copyright holder) or IP clearance (though incubator)
* git import (*after* grant/IP clearance)
* website (this can wait!)
(has any work started on any of these? Try to document it in public on dev@mesatee or on private@mesatee if it involves legal)
BTW, there are now 6 mentors listed - so perhaps you won't need me formally. But I will be happy to lurk around to give nudges etc!

Accounts are all requested, and I've filed an initial podling name
search. I think that will look good on our first report. :)

No. I think none of the Initial Committers have signed up to this
mailing list yet, I can only see 5 subscribers, and except us two that
leaves the 3 list moderators (Luciano, Matt, Zhijie).
Would perhaps you or Zhijie work with inviting the 9 named Initial
Committers to sign up to this list?
They can do so by sending a blank email from their preferred address to:
dev-subscribe@mesatee.apache.org
private-subscribe@mesatee.apache.org
(and equivalent for commits@ issues@ notifications@)
The moderators will need to approve subscription to the private@
address (PPMC+mentors only).
Project communication should move to use the public @mesatee.apache.org
mailing lists, so obviously we would then also want to promote this
list to the wider MesaTEE community - I understand there is an existing
mailing list?
I've copied in remaining mentors in case they are not yet subscribed.

Slow starting up.

Initial committers have not yet signed up to mailing lists (only 4 subscribers, all mentors?)
How has the project developed since the last report?
Initial setup in incubator (mailing list, whimsy).

The project is just starting up and did not get a report ready this
month. The champion need to work on migrating the initial committers and
eventually wider developer community to the apache.org mailing lists.
