svn server performance?!

Hi guys,

I was just a little bit curious about our server performance
compared to others, especially http://svn.collab.net/repos/svn/trunk/
SVN Log, showing all logs, takes severel minutes at our own server
but just some seconds at the svn repository.
Though, ours just reached Rev 6000 compared to Rev 1900 at the
svn repository.
So I'm quite sure that it is possible to boost our servers performance
much more but I don't know how. Couldn't find anything on the net yet.
Maybe some of you has some helpful suggestions/hints ?

Here's the current server configuration...
Hardware:
  2.8GHz Xeon (Hyper Threading)
  5x 250GB Sata Discs (Raid 5)
  1.5GB DDR Ram
  100MBit up/down

Software:
  Apache 2.0.54
  . only https allowed
. Authentication thru mkpassd generated file
  SVN 1.3.1 (r19032)
. user permission done thru an ACL file

greets
clemens
