[jira] Resolved: (BEEHIVE-514) Apt task nocompile option doesn't seem to work
[ http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BEEHIVE-514?page=all ]
Kyle Marvin resolved BEEHIVE-514:
---------------------------------
Resolution: Fixed
Fix Version: V1
I did some testing of the -X argument handling, and was able to confirm that the <apt> task is properly passing them down to the apt executable (i.e. they aren't being swallowed anywhere), so if "maxerrs 0" doesn't work, this is a apt/javac issue, not an Ant AptTask issue.
Here's what I did to confirm the behavior:
- Added the -Xmaxerrs command line arg to the <apt> invocation in controls/test/build.xml:
<apt srcdir="${controls.test.controls}" destdir="${build.beans}" gendir="${build.beansrc}"
debug="on" classpathref="test.classpath"
srcExtensions="*.java,*.jcx,*.jcs">
+ <compilerarg line="-Xmaxerrs 0" />
</apt>
- Created a simple 'apt' shell script to intercept APT executable invocations, dump the args passed to the scripts, then invoke the actual apt executable:
#!/bin/sh
echo Arguments: $*
/usr/java/jdk1.5.0/bin/apt $*
When I run the 'ant build-test-beans' target in build.xml, the 'echo' command above does confirm that the maxerrs arg is being passed down to apt properly.
I considered opening a new JIRA issue to track this specifically while opening a apt/javac issue w/ Sun, but I don't actually think this is an issue worth spending time on. At one point, Brett had been investigating ways to get around nuild dependency issues that involved trying to suppress errors, but this dependency issue has since been fixed by mods to the ControlClientAnnotationProcessor, so suppression is no longer necessary or even desirable (in most cases).

> The nocompile option seems to be ignored when specified on the apt task. When set the input and generated output still get compiled. Expected to only see generated source, no .class files.
