How about "Anonymous usage statistics will be collected in accordance with
our privacy policy" and have it link to the privacy policy we have on our
website.

Hi,

As a reminder, there's an installer which is waiting for your votes.

I just extracted the sources of the installer, ran Ant and the build was ok,
so, I don't know but that's twice that people reports an issue with the
flexTasks.tasks, did you tried to copy the one the the SDK 4.9.1 to Ant ?

Frédéric,
Here are my version numbers each. I have the environmental variables
setup and the path setup. I just recompiled the flex-sdk to make sure
everything else was working as intended.

ANT: 1.9.0
AIR: 3.4
Flex: current git build of develop (compiled successfully)

Do you think it's the ant location it's having a hard time with?

Ugh never mind when I removed my old build of the Flex-SDK and rebuilt the
new one... The Flex-Installer built correctly.

BUILD SUCCESSFUL

Thanks though. I appreciate the help

Hi,

Made a few minor changes to the README and RELEASE_NOTES (few minor issue with SVN vs Git URLs and version numbers). Not essential IMO that they are in this release.

Well I have a clean ant download in separate folder than the flex-sdk. I
have it use the "ANT_HOME" and path "%ANT_HOME%\bin" variables to access
it. My problem seemed to be that my flexTasks.jar file disappeared from my
/flex/lib folder. When I rebuilt the Flex-SDK it re-created it and I was
good again. Hope a script isn't cleaning that folder up.

I ran into a very similar issue the other day as did someone else. So there's something going with o wit looks up ant/lib or lib to find that file not 100% what it is however.

Think this needs a minor change before calling for a new RC.

installer/src/org/apache/flex/packageflexsdk/view/components/Tracker.mxml

"Dutch", which is how English speakers refer to our language and

No, apart from a typo (Deutsch instead of Deutsh) in my email, the
situation as I described it correct. My setup is that - although I'm
from Nederland (Pays Bas) - I have bought my MacBook in the US and so
it's OS is full en_US. The installer didn't pick up on that and

Update: I just installed the 2.0.2, then intalled over the 2.5.0 and it
proposed me to replace the existing one and did it successfully, so, I can't
reproduce.

Can someone else could confirm there's the same behavior Erik had ?

I just apply the change for INFO_TRACKING to "Anonymous usage statistics

privacy policy url "http://flex.apache.org/about-privacy.html".

It's translated for English and French, for other languages, it would be

I'll do a RC tomorrow afternoon GMT+1.

Evertthing on this list [1] has been resolved or found consensus, except
for:

- "Install Log" and "Close" buttons are grey, while they do have a rollover
someone may think they are disabled.

Does someone with better design skill than me could suggest something ?
otherwise I will let it like.

- Can we change "Information about use of this application is being
collected via HTTP requests" to something like "Anonymous/non identifying
information is collected to improve the quality of this installer"

If everybody is ok, I'll choose "This application will ping a server in
order to count the number of times the application is run."

-Fred

[1]
Some possible room for minor (some very minor) improvements:
- By default 11.1 and 11.4 player globals were downloaded, as they are
reasonably small why not download them all?
- "Install Log" and "Close" buttons are grey, while they do have a rollover
someone may think they are disabled.
- "Information about use of this application is being collected via HTTP
requests" sounds rather scary, there no was to opt out and there no
indication to what information is being collected or why it's being
collected. Think we need a link to short paragraph saying what is collected
and why.
- Can we change "Information about use of this application is being
collected via HTTP requests" to something like "Anonymous/non identifying
information is collected to improve the quality of this installer"
- Highlight in language drop down is cut off and doesn't extend to RHS of
drop down.
- "Information about use of this application is being collected via HTTP
requests" locale missing in Spanish, Greek and Portuguese.
- Locale for "Log" button in Portuguese missing
- Looks like the Greek locale has issues - perhaps text not checked in as
UTF8? Black diamonds with "?" show up in text.

It was late when I finished last night, I didn't get this question, I was
confused.
Well, Just like that I would say yes, why not, even maybe without another
step, wrapping all the playerglobal downloads in an existing step would work
but what would be the usage, to use one of extra FP (playerglobal), the user
should have to manualy patch its flex-config.xml, out, we've got scripts for
that, as well for FP as for AIR, I would rather prefer the users use the
scripts, most of them anyway don't know anything about flex-config.xml, ok,
it is documented in the readme but once again, who reads it, maybe it is
better to make them to know more about the scripts and there usages and even
at support time on the list, it's simplier to say to the user use this
script to do that than "trick your flex-config", well, that's my opinion.

Btw, does the ide/* scripts documented somewhere ?

Out of that, I'll add, from the next version, the possibility for the user
to choose it's combination FP/AIR, maybe the possibility to choose the SDK
as well.

Given the defaut AIR version is 3.4, it should be at least FP 11.4 but we
built the sources with 11.1 :P
If we want both, I have to check but I would say, it requires another step.

- "Install Log" and "Close" buttons are grey, while they do have a rollover

Ok, someone would like to propose a color ?

- "Information about use of this application is being collected via HTTP

information is collected to improve the quality of this installer"

Fine to me.

- Highlight in language drop down is cut off and doesn't extend to RHS of
drop down.

I haven't seen, I check that.

- "Information about use of this application is being collected via HTTP

- Locale for "Log" button in Portuguese missing

It's known but until nobody wants to translate it, I guess it can fall back
in English.

I've just seen that, could be because of the very recent change in the font

Hi,

Looks goods and worked without an issue on OSX with an Australian locale.

I think I may of seen this else where as well, looks like it might be a bug with the spark ComboBox. So probably best to leave as is and raise a JIRA on the ComboBox.

A few comments on the installer :

- The disclaimer "Information about your use of this application...."
should really link to our privacy policy.
http://flex.apache.org/about-privacy.html
- I like the new check-marks for the license agreements. This helps with
usability a LOT.
- The app's UI becomes unresponsive during the verification of the MD5
hash. Any way we can green-thread this so that the end user dosen't think
something is wrong?

Otherwise, functionally, it works fine. Both Windows 7 x64 and MacOS X

Ok, I think I've got it from this tickect
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-5549 [1], so, I'm going to wait
everything is ok and writable before I try to loose everything.

-Fred

[1]
I've migrated the repos as follows:
https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf/flex-falcon.git
https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf/flex-sdk.git
https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf/flex-tlf.git
https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf/flex-utilities.git

I have not migrated whiteboard or site. (site will stay SVN, and be writable
after we're finished with this.)
I am open to moving whiteboard, but you'll have to tell me explicitly that
you want to move it - otherwise when we are done I'll make both site and
whiteboard writable in SVN.

The git repos are also read only. Please have the FLEX PMC look at the
repos, see if they are acceptable, all branches are present, etc, and if
found accordingly, please update this ticket and I'll make them writable.

I think it its a bug as well. I have seen this in other scenarios as

Are we doing it to improve the quality of the installer or just to count
downloads? If the latter, can we just be explicit: "This application will

It's known but until nobody wants to translate it, I guess it can fall back
in English.

- Looks like the Greek locale has issues - perhaps text not checked in as
UTF8? Black diamonds with "?" show up in text.

I've just seen that, could be because of the very recent change in the font
? I don't know, I'll check.

Subject: Re: [DISCUSS] Apache Flex SDK Installer 2.5 RC1

Hi,

Looks goods and worked without an issue on OSX with an Australian locale.

Thanks,
Justin
