Can not find scripts in directory bin

Hi,there,It is very strange. On some machines use
$INSTALL_HOME/hadoop/hadoop-0.16.0/bin/hadoop namenode -format.I got message
as "No such directory or file".What's wrong with that? And I found that I can
not list directory ~/bin even directory ~/conf I had done the job as chown
etc.

Thanks

Hi,thanks Amar,

I always extract the Hadoop tar ball in the directory /usr/local/ and mkdir
a subdirectory /hadoop there, why got into the trouble on some mechines, when
even I can not ls /usr/local/hadoop/hadoop-0.16.0/bin.Which parts of hadoop
control the behaviors of visiting directories and files.I will try it out on
what you said.

I am on Ubuntu/Linux and hadoop-0.16.0.

What is INSTALL_HOME? Is it the directory where you have extracted the
HADOOP tar ball? If yes then remove 'hadoop' from the path.

What do you mean by ~/bin? Do you expect 'bin' and 'conf' to be in the
home directory? Can you provide more information on what is that you have
done and the environment in which you are trying to run HADOOP.
