We had to hack ducc.py to handle blocked ports.  In particular:

 os.environ['ACTIVEMQ_OPTS'] = '-Djava.rmi.server.hostname=localhost -DDUCC_AMQ_PORT=' + broker_port + \

and

 jvm_opts.append('-Djava.rmi.server.hostname=localhost')

Also, the AMQ broker's RMI needed to be configured (via -D) to use localhost instead of defaulting to the host's IP address.
