Specified Datanode does'nt work when submitting a map reduce job to 3 node cluster

Hi,
    I was running  a map reduce job in a demo cluster with 3 Data node ,1
Jobtracker and 1 NameNode. But the Data node specified are not working
except the Data node in the Name Node when i look in to the web interface
for the Name Node.

And it seems slower than the same job runs in a single node. What can i
do....

Will the Data Node specified wo'nt work if the data is not so large?????

I have got the solution..The iptables services was running in that datanodes
thats why it couldnt do its job.....
