arrays vs. vectors?

Hello,
I'm trying to decide which to pass between my servers and clients--arrays or
vectors. Does anyone know the benefits or drawbacks to using one over the
other? For instance, are SOAP message sizes the same (assuming the same data
type within the array or vector). Since I'm fairly new to SOAP, any guidance
would be greatly appreciated. My services will have both Apache SOAP (java)
and SOAP::Lite (perl) clients.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Eric H. Jung

if you want to use vectors you should serialize them as a SOAP array.

Arrays have the benefit of being defined as part of the SOAP spec, so they should be
implemented uniformly across clients and servers written in different languages on
different platforms. Since Vectors are Java structures, they are effectively
user-defined types in SOAP implementations other than Apache SOAP.
