commons-pool: why isn't the pool using generics?

Hi,

I'm just wondering, why aren't the pools using generics? They are a collection of objects (or key-values) - using them I realised I'm doing a lot of unnecessary casting.

Cheers,
Mircea

The 1.x versions of commons-pool (all released versions) support
older JDKs. The latest release, 1.5.4, has minimum JDK requirement
1.4. Generic support is being tracked as POOL-83. I just changed
the fix version for that issue to 2.0.

I will start a separate thread on how to get us going on 2.0.
