Adding a custom unmarshaller

Hi.

I'm trying to add a custom unmarshaller to intercept a NumberFormatException
I'm getting within the DocLiteralInInterceptor class.  

I need to be able to handle null values for what should be BigDecimal
parameters in the request by returning a default value instead of throwing
an exception.

I was looking into the possibility of using XmlAdapter, but I cannot edit
the pojo classes.

Any suggestions on how to go about it?

I am using cxf 2.2.12.
