http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=42113

Summary: [PATCH] Remove requirement of publication.xml being
present in pub dir during build
           Product: Lenya
           Version: 1.4
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Build System
        AssignedTo: dev@lenya.apache.org
        ReportedBy: richard.frovarp@sendit.nodak.edu

After the merge, the publication.xml file is no longer required as it is no
longer used. However, the build system is checking for its presence. This is
causing a NPE during build if it is not at least a 0 byte file.

Changes test from publication.xml to /config/publication.xconf

config/publication.xconf seemed to be the best option for a file to test for
existance. After the patch ./build.sh compile-build-tasks needs to be ran. The
compiled class files are also store in svn and would need to be updated to svn.

Java 1.4 Anttask class files

Hi Joern, thanks for your help.

Yes I know I can compile my own classfiles, I just wanted to bring this to
everyone's attention so that it doesn't keep happening ;).

I have attached a zip file with the class files compiled for Java 1.4.

P.S. I tried mailing them to your apache address but the delivery failed.

Thanks for this patch.

Unfortunately the class files do not work on Java 1.4. Any chance of
recompiling/recommitting 1.4 compatible versions?

Thanks

Fixes publication.xml test and NPE

Same comments as before. Added a test so the NPE won't be thrown in the future.

applied, with a brown paper bag over my head...
i remember i've tried the very same patch, and it did not work.
only now it dawned on me that this requires a

# ./build.sh compile-build-tasks

:-D

thanks!

as a quick workaround, compile them yourself.

i don't quite understand how this can happen, since i have
src.java.version=1.4
(although i do indeed use jdk 1.5.)
but i haven't yet found where "target.vm" gets its value from, so i may be
overlooking something.

i wonder whether this whole thing is worth the hassle. why do we ship pre-built
classfiles again?

can anyone who is using jdk 1.4 provide their classfiles? mail them to nettings
AT apache DOT org, and i'll try them out and commit them...
