[I] Cannot build Android, Gradle moved to GitHub [cordova-android]
GitToTheHub opened a new issue, #1863:
URL: https://github.com/apache/cordova-android/issues/1863
# Bug Report
## Problem
I cannot build with cordova-android anymore. I get these error messages:
```bash
Checking Java JDK and Android SDK versions
ANDROID_HOME=/Users/manuelbeck/Library/Android/sdk (recommended setting)
ANDROID_SDK_ROOT=undefined (DEPRECATED)
Using Android SDK: /Users/manuelbeck/Library/Android/sdk
> Task :wrapper FAILED
FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.
* What went wrong:
Execution failed for task ':wrapper'.
> Test of distribution url https://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-8.13-bin.zip failed. Please check the values set with --gradle-distribution-url and --gradle-version.
* Try:
> Run with --stacktrace option to get the stack trace.
> Run with --info or --debug option to get more log output.
> Run with --scan to get full insights.
> Get more help at https://help.gradle.org.
1 actionable task: 1 executed
Command failed with exit code 1: gradle -p /Users/manuelbeck/Projekte/Cordova/notification-test/platforms/android/tools wrapper --gradle-version 8.13
```
When I check the url of `https://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-8.13-bin.zip` by
```bash
curl -I https://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-8.13-bin.zip
```
I get a ` Temporary Redirect` to GitHub:
```bash
HTTP/1.1 307 Temporary Redirect
Is here something wrong in Cordova not handling the redirect correct?
Gradle downloads/installs the wrapper via the `gradle wrapper` task.
We also don't produce the distribution url ourselves. We do accept a distribution url as a config argument but default path is to specify a version via (`--gradle-version`), and gradle builds up the distribution url itself.
Given they are using a temporary redirect, maybe gradle is just doing maintenance on their own server?
Thanks for your responses. It was due to connecting with the mobile hotspot of my iPhone. When I connect with a normal WiFi it works. I don't know, whats the problem with my hotspot. Everything else works with it.
Is Cordova actually responsible for fetching the gradle distribution, or is it gradle itself doing that? I don't see anywhere in our code that we're doing anything with the `distributionUrl`
Now I have the root cause. It was because of my phone provider. The german provider `Congstar` produced the error. With a different provider `sim24` it worked again. I can't believe that ..
