We have the version hard coded in a bunch of places under [https://github.com/apache/kafka/blob/trunk/docs/getting-started/]

These were not mentioned in [https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/KAFKA/Release+Process#ReleaseProcess-CutBranches] so they have not been updated yet.

I'll update the docs and the release process page.
