[ANN] Apache FOP 2.1 Released
The Apache XML Graphics team is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Apache FOP Version 2.1 [1].
Apache FOP (Formatting Objects Processor) [2] is an output independent print formatter driven by XSL Formatting Objects (XSL-FO) [3]. FOP is a Java application that reads a formatting object tree and renders the resulting pages to a specified output format, of which a variety of formats are supported. Apache FOP is published under the Apache License v2.0.
This release fixes a number of bugs. In addition the following significant functional enhancements are provided:
Add PreloaderRawPNG to handle images ImageIO cant
Support Barcode4J page number
Support CMYK JPEG in AFP
Support IPD change on last page
Support PDF/UA
Support TrueType fonts in PCL
Support TrueType fonts in AFP
Support for PDF/A-3
For release notes see [4]. Source and binary distributions can be downloaded from an ASF Mirror at [5]. Further download information is available at [6]. Maven artifacts for this release are available at [7].
Note, that depending on which download mirror you use, it may take up to 24 hours to see the download images at [5].

I did not originally see the commit, thanks, I'm grateful for that.

Yeah, indeed... If you look closer in the comments, I committed a fix a while back since multiple users were reporting being affected by it, but kept that open, since I was not really satisfied with the robustness of the fix.
Thinking more about it now, perhaps we can resolve this particular one, and create a new, linked issue for a more thorough solution. As I recall, someone may have already posted a suggestion/patch (?)

Thanks, great news. I took it for a spin and it worked in my case (PDF
of about 1500 pages).
Also the NPE I encountered using FOP 2.0 seems to be fixed:

although it does not yet seem to have the resolved state in the JIRA
tracker.
