about svk

I didn't ignore any request about the name change; if you have seen the
README, I explicitly mention that: "all things are subject to change,
including project name, binary name, perl module namespaces, depot
spec, etc."

The point about potential confusion was taken, altough I have never used
nor even seen bitkeeper myself.

I just can't make naming stop myself from doing interesting real works.

Cheers,
CLK

And in the middle of those two is austria - so the next part of
subversion-rules-the-world would be called "at", except that's already taken
:-) ??

Heh, and note that "svn" is the 3-letter ISO 3166 code for Slovenia, and
"svk" is the same for Slovakia, and everybody keeps mixing up these two
countries. It's not as if they even had a common border or anything. :-)

FWIW, the svk repository is termporary hosed. Berkely DB is reporting errors.

svd is all on the same hand instead of two hands. :-D

No? Not a good idea?

SubversionDistributor????

Or is that too lame???

I had thought of SubversionDistributed, but that's not as catchy I don't think.

What do you all think????????

I mean, I don't really care. But if copyright is an issue, we still need a
catchy way to hook the minds of the masses. :)

sounds perfectly reasonable to me - could also do re-expand in the
future if someone comes up a nice name. I'm quite used to type "svk" in
command line now.

If this were a copyright issue, that would matter. But for a trademark
issue, it doesn't matter even a little bit.

My suggestion: expunge all references to "subversionkeeper" from the web
page, documentation, and source code comments. The program's name is
"svk" which, like "KFC," doesn't stand for anything. I think that
should avoid any issues of confusing similarity.

BitKeeper is popular enough that even the Linux Kernal has been using it for a
while now. Unless that's recently changed.

SubversionDistributor?

And svd?

I mean, isn't that really what it is?

It's really not a keeper of anything is it.

Sorry, Chia-Liang, I didn't mean to accuse you of ignoring us. I was
just pointing out that the name had not (so far as we know) actually
changed, and that therefore we have to be careful.

Understood. But that's not the issue in an identity dispute.

> I just can't make naming stop myself from doing interesting real works.

Huh? No one's asking you to do that.
