[Vote] Release Tuscany Java SCA 1.1-incubating (RC1)

Please review and vote on the 1.1 release artifacts of Tuscany SCA for Java.

The SVN tag for the release is:
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/tuscany/tags/java/sca/1.1-RC1/

The artifacts are available for review at:
http://people.apache.org/~slaws/tuscany/1.1-RC1/

This includes the signed binary and source distributions, the RAT report,
and the Maven staging repository.

If you do find issues with the release candidate that you think need
to be fixed and lead to a -1 please review and fix them in the 1.1 branch
or raise jira's targeting the 1.1 release.

Thanks,

Simon

There is a getting started pdf with the store sample, and an updated
version is also available at :
http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/TUSCANY/Getting+Started+with+Tuscany

It says :

Note: When adding items for the first time you will be asked for
userid and password by the
browser. Enter "admin" for both.

Support for IE was just added couple weeks ago, but from what you are
reporting, I guess it works only in IE6. I didn't test in IE7 (didn't
have it). Let me know if this is something we want to get fixed in
R1.1 and I can investigate the issue.

store sample issues, was: Re: [Vote] Release Tuscany Java SCA 1.1-incubating (RC1)

Posted by Raymond Feng <en...@gmail.com>.
Hi,

I just tried the store sample from the 1.1 RC1 binary distro. There are two
issues:

1) When I clicked on the "Add to Cart" buttion, I was prompted to type in
user id and password. It's not documented anywhere in the README. I had to
go back the tuscany-binding-feed source code to figure it out.

2) The store sample is not working well with IE7.
"document.getElementById()" returns null on Line 50. It works with FireFox.

Thanks,
Raymond

make RC2 as soon as possible. Before that we have 19 issues assigned
to 1.1to fix.

https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=true&&pid=12310210&fixfor=12312791&resolution=-1&sorter/field=priority&sorter/order=DESC

12 of these are marked as major. Can people give me a hand in fixing these.
Just assign yourself any of the JIRA from the list. I'd like to produce RC2
later today if at all possible.

If there are any JIRA missing from the list please add then as soon as
possible so we know what we're aiming for.

run mvn in the alert aggregator demo directory and this should produce the
build-dependency.xml file. You can then build the demo with ant. I actually
ran it in the release branch and copied it into my test distribution.

I'll look into TUSCANY-1991.

I tested the webapps on WebSphere Application Server 6.1.0.9, found the
following issues:

http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-1989
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-1990
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-1991

I have not tested the alert aggregator demo as I can't build its WAR
because of TUSCANY-1976. What do I need to do to build the WAR before
the fix is included in the next RC?

I reviewed RC1, tested the samples and demos, found some issues:
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-1966
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-1967
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-1968

http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-1974
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-1975
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-1976
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-1980

I also saw the problem reported by Raymond:
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-1963

-1 to release RC1 given the above issues.

I used Tomcat 6.0.14 to test the sample webapps, could people help test
them on other platforms too, Jetty, Geronimo, WebSphere etc?

Re: [Vote] Release Tuscany Java SCA 1.1-incubating (RC1)

Posted by Raymond Feng <en...@gmail.com>.
Hi,

I ran through the samples packaged in the RC1 and here are a list of issues
I found so far:

1) TUSCANY-1963: callback-ws-client sample fails with
IndexOutOfBoundsException
2) TUSCANY-1964: store sample doesn't work with IE7
3) TUSCANY-1956: SecurityException thrown in helloworld-bpel

calculator-implementation-policies: fails with SecurityException: Unable to
locate a login configuartion (Not sure if we already a JIRA opened for this)

The rest of the samples work fine. The license/notice side looks good to me.

I will vote +0 at this point.

Thanks,
Raymond

Hi Simon,

When I try to download RC1 from
http://people.apache.org/~slaws/tuscany/1.1-RC1/, I get 403 Forbidden.
Do I need to do anything to get permission to download?
Thanks
