[jira] [Commented] (COMDEV-177) Don't store derived data files in SVN

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/COMDEV-177?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15006577#comment-15006577 ]

Sebb commented on COMDEV-177:
-----------------------------

It may make sense to create a separate journal of the relevant LDAP groups, from which the accounts-evolution can be derived.
This data could have additional uses, and it would simplify matters if the data that needs to be stored in VCS were in a separate location.

> Most of the files under https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/comdev/projects.apache.org/site/json are derived from other data that is stored in SVN and can be readily recreated. There seems little point in storing the derived data in SVN again.
> However, some of the files contain information that is derived from dynamic sources that are not part of a VCS; these must be kept in SVN because it is not possible to recreate them fully.
> Such files include:
> accounts-evolution.json - this is derived from changes to LDAP which are not journalled anywhere AFAIK.
> [That may be all; to be confirmed]
