  My VisualC++ 6 (with MS Platform SDK May 2002) chokes on lines 528 and
  529.

  There seem to be two ")"s missing, as well as a boolean operator (XX)
  to connect the two terms:

    528: else if ((rv != APR_FROM_OS_ERROR(ERROR_IO_PENDING)) XX
    529:          (rv != APR_FROM_OS_ERROR(WSA_IO_PENDING))) {
