    Summary: clean up design documentation  (was: update design documentation)

I would suggest we only need to do the following for 1.0:
- get rid of documents that are no longer relevant (probably mine in the indexing and the proxying modules)
- set aside a space for such documents in a structured way so we can gradually grow them back again
- incorporate Deng's document.
