AbstractStylableDocument::getStyleSheets - Not implemented

Hello 

I would like to modify style sheets used in an SVG-Image. 
While doing so, I discovered:
 
The method AbstractStylableDocument::getStyleSheets() throws an 
RuntimeException with the comment " !!! Not implemented". 
 
I would really like this feature. 
 
Is there any work planed in this area?
Is there a useful workaround, that makes the feature obsolete?
Can I do something on my one, using AbstractStylableDocument.cssEngine?
