Please help me to solve problem with Post/Get on Java Servlets on TomCat
HI,
I am using Apache as Web Server. And Tomcat as Servlet engine.
I made a servlet uses doGet and doPost. When I test it using I.E. 4.0,
it returns error says "POST" method is not permitted.( Iknow that
I placed the servlet in correct directory)
If anyone had the same experience and know what and how to modify
either httpd or access of apache or anyone of Tomcat conf file, please
let me know.
By the way, I am using Windows 2000 server for server operating system and
Windows 2000 / Windows NT, Windows 98 as client operating system.
Also use BEA's JDBC for SQL 7.0 interface.
Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge.
Hitae Lee.

Maybe it is. A collegue of mine had a tomcat 3.1b installed which
would not work correctly with POST. I'm unsure of the details. I
belive his doPost() was being called, but the POST data was not
correctly read. I suggested he move to a more recent build, which he
did. POST began to work, with zero changes to his apache config.

I'm no Apache config file expert but I can remember that Apache out of
the box for security reasons only accepts GET. I have made some
modifications but I really don't know what they were. Have a look at the
Apache website or maybe somebody else in this group can help you.

Tomcat does do POST. Some of the JSP examples depend on it.
It sounds like the apache configuration is what is preventing it. In
the httpd.conf look for a <Limit POST> (possibly with other methods),
particularly if it contains a "Deny from all" entry in the element body.
