[jira] [Created] (LUCENE-4005) nuke manual-maintained forrest
javadocs menu
Robert Muir created LUCENE-4005:
-----------------------------------
Summary: nuke manual-maintained forrest javadocs menu
Key: LUCENE-4005
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LUCENE-4005
Project: Lucene - Java
Issue Type: Task
Components: general/javadocs
Affects Versions: 4.0
Reporter: Robert Muir
Currently site.xml has every module and a link to its javadocs, its a sub-menu of the javadocs menu in forrest.
This causes a few problems:
* it has to be manually maintained (i noticed in some releases like 3.5, several contribs were totally missing)
* since it contains sub-menus, there is no room to fit in a description of what these modules do.
On the other hand, we actually have an index page, auto-generated from the build.xml's that links
to each module's javadocs. It creates links based on the project name and description in the ant files.
So I think we should just link to that instead.
