I just snapped SQLite into tcl, and used it directly in Rivet without the
DIO interface ... never spent the time to learn DIO, but I never looked
back.

I once developed some Rivet code that used SQLite, that I subsequently
moved to Postgres, both using the 'native' interfaces.  It really wasn't
much of a problem.
