[DISCUSS] Powered By Logo
Hi,
I've taken the liberty of creating 2 options for a "Powered By" logo for
CloudStack.
http://84.51.246.11/poweredby/poweredbyversion1.png
http://84.51.246.11/poweredby/poweredbyversion2.png
They are the same basic design, with some color adjustments.
I'm looking for feedback - good, bad, whatever - on direction and / or the
two options I'm proposing.
Any thoughts?

I also like version 2. Agree with the reverse black and white.
What about "powered by" up top and "apache CloudStack" on bottom.
Enlarge the letters for those and shrink CloudStack.apache.org to very
small print under "Apache CloudStack"
The powered by and apache CloudStack letters should be very prominent
on the logo IMHO. The site, not so much.

The option 2 is a cleaner design.
How about version 2 but reverse the black and white?
Make the background white and the lettering black.
If you can get to 3 colors (with one being black or white) it is easier/less expensive to replicate on physical things.

I know the origin of the monkey logo but in my 10 seconds stereotype:
-the elephant is strong, reliable and "tamed"
-the monkey is crazy, noisy, agitated and plays tricks on you

You're right and the advantage of having an animal/fruit/object logo is that they are very recognisable & distinctive and help build brand
I'd be interested to hear what others think: I'm a bit conservative with these things

Funny though, the Hadoop Elephant seems to have been accepted by the industry and it splashed all over the place!
I'll take a crack at some treatments that don't include the monkey, as well as more that do.

The specific suggestions from trademarks@ was to avoid using our
"official" product logos in the powered by design. This helps ensure
that we don't have confusion in the market around the ownership of the
marks that we want to protect.
That being said, the ideas around a rectangular format are good. Having
a couple of options in different form factors is something I can work
with.

ApacheCloudStack Logo without the Monkey for those that just want a text
