I’ve had the same problem. I found it’s related to two core-3.1.1.jar
files with the same classes defined in the CLASS_PATH.
Solved by disabling one of the jars:
mv $HADOOP_HOME/build/ivy/lib/Hadoop/common/core-3.1.1.jar
$HADOOP_HOME/build/ivy/lib/Hadoop/common/core-3.1.1.jar.orig

Subject: Re: Why still can not I use Hive?

The error message from
Hive.log:

Caused by: org.datanucleus.exceptions.NucleusException: Plugin (Bundle)
"org.eclipse.jdt.core" is already registered. Ensure you dont have
multiple JAR versions of the same plugin in the classpath. The URL
"file:/usr/local/hadoop/build/ivy/lib/Hadoop/common/core-3.1.1.jar"
is already registered, and you are trying to register an identical plugin
located at URL "file:/usr/local/hadoop/lib/core-3.1.1.jar."

Can you type "env" and attach your environment? Most probably you
have a "HADOOP_CLASSPATH" variable - we don't need that I think.
