XML Mapping EOL

Is there any danger of XML mappings for JPA objects being phased out any time within the next 5 years (to pick a timeframe), or not having features that the annotations have?

I think there's no way for that: xml bring more features than annotations,
for example being to decouple persistence data in another jar.
