[GitHub] [arrow-datafusion] andygrove opened a new issue, #2908: Fail gracefully if optimization rule fails

andygrove opened a new issue, #2908:
URL: https://github.com/apache/arrow-datafusion/issues/2908

**Is your feature request related to a problem or challenge? Please describe what you are trying to do.**
I am frequently running into errors in the optimizer where one rule will fail, causing the entire query to fail.

   **Describe the solution you'd like**
If an optimizer rule produces an error then I think it would be better to just keep going and try and apply the other optimizer rules and run a query that is not fully optimized, rather than fail.

   **Describe alternatives you've considered**
   None

   **Additional context**
   None
