The metaversions RELEASE and LATEST will be removed from the public view. In the POM, plugins will always have an explicit version (as per MNG-4173). On the CLI, a concrete version is either given as well or completely omitted. In the latter case, Maven 3.x will still resolve the version automatically but the implementation of this resolution via special version markers will not leak into the public domain.
