Re: SVN and Struts

Hello,

I just finished installing and setting up TortoiseSVN on my local machine.

I tried to import struts dev files into my local SVNRepository by
entering the following URL -
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/struts/core/trunk/

However, I am getting 403 forbidden message from http://svn.apache.org

This is my first time using SVN and any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: SVN and Struts

Posted by Eddie Bush <ea...@swbell.net>.
I'm unfamiliar with TurquiseSVN. The command-line SVN works just fantastic.
If TurquiseSVN is similar to WinCVS, I'd have to imagine there is some way
to specify a URL to retrieve from. If you're unable to figure out how to do
that, I can't help you. You might hit the TurquiseSVN site though and see
if they have a "How To ..." for new SVNers.

The command-line SVN interface is so similar to CVS it's insane ... piece of
cake to check things out, update, ... whatever you want to do. It doesn't
come with much eye-candy though ...

Good Luck,

Eddie

Ted, did you mean to say "http".....instead of "https"? (wrt anonymous

TortoiseSVN is all you need to install.

Right click on the directory you created and select "Checkout...', using

* https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/struts/core/trunk

for the URL. Leave the "Checkout only the top folder" button unchecked, and
leave the Head button selected.

A window will show the files being added to your local repository for
awhile, and then you will have a full checkout.

When it is done, the window will say "Update Complete" and cite the Revision
number.

If you are making a contribution, after making changes, you can right-click
on the top-level directory again, select "TortioseSVN", and then select
"Create Patch".

Create a Bugzilla ticket regarding the contribution, and then add the patch
as an attachment. (You have to create the ticket first, and then attach the
patch).

HTH, Ted.

Re: SVN and Struts

Posted by Shihgian Lee <st...@gmail.com>.
I did something wrong and managed to fix the problem.

Here is what I have done so far. I created directory called
struts/trunk/ and downloaded all the source files and added them to
the local SVNRepository.

On the http://www.apache.org/dev/version-control.html page, the
command for anonymous checkout is "svn checkout
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/spamassassin/trunk somefile"

Where do I execute this command? Can I do it through the TortoiseSVN
or I have to download a SSH Client like PUTTY to check out the file? I
would like to contribute to struts source.

Any help is appreaciated.

Thank you.
