[jira] [Created] (INFRA-4071) JMeter TLP: mailing lists

JMeter TLP: mailing lists
-------------------------

                 Key: INFRA-4071
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-4071
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Sub-task
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
            Reporter: Sebb

The JMeter project currently uses the following mailing lists:

jmeter-user@jakarta.apache.org
dev@jakarta.apache.org (shared with other jakarta projects)
notifications@jakarta.apache.org (shared; used for bugzilla and svn)
general@jakarta.apache.org (shared)
private@jakarta.apache.org (shared)

We would like the following e-mail lists:

commits@jmeter.apache.org - for SVN commits (currently goes to notifications@jakarta.apache.org)
dev@jmeter.apache.org - probably not possible to migrate existing subscribers as the existing list is shared.
user@jmeter.apache.org - ideally migrate all subscribers from jmeter-user@jakarta.apache.org
issues@jmeter.apache.org - for Bugzilla (currently goes to notifications@jakarta.apache.org)
private@jmeter.apache.org

Sebb commented on INFRA-4071:
-----------------------------

There are 2 problems with the renamed jmeter-user list:

1) The list header info (subscribe etc) still refers to jakarta

2) http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/jakarta-jmeter-user/ redirects to http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/jmeter-user/, which is fine, except that the older mailboxes are not visible. Looks like the .mbox files have not been created.

Yes, did not realise one could rename lists.

It would be helpful if changes to the svn/bugzilla/wiki redirects could be delayed until we have had a chance to subscribe.
[wiki e-mails should go to the dev list]

The initial moderators for the new lists should be

sebbaz@gmail.com,rahul.akolkar@gmail.com

Thanks!

-----------------------------

Still no sign of the jmeter user mailboxes from before Nov 2011.

jmeter-user still appears under jakarta.a.o (which is useful for historic links), and redirects to user under jmeter.a.o.

However the original archives are not listed anywhere I could find.

The old archives have been moved to /home/apmail/public-arch/jmeter.apache.org/user (minotaur).
The visible archives have group "jmeter", whereas the invisible ones do not; however I doubt that is the cause - all of them are world-readable.

Still not fixed:

2) http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/jakarta-jmeter-user/ redirects to http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/jmeter-user/, which is fine, except that the older mailboxes are not visible. Looks like the .mbox files have not been created.

Perhaps the old jakarta/jmeter-dev list mailboxes could be redirected/moved as well?
This is the list that was used before the dev lists were merged, so is historical only.

<danielsh> The working copies on all hosts are from https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/gora/site . Did you commit a change there today and it hasn't been mirrored yet?

> The JMeter project currently uses the following mailing lists:
> jmeter-user@jakarta.apache.org
> dev@jakarta.apache.org (shared with other jakarta projects)
> notifications@jakarta.apache.org (shared; used for bugzilla and svn)
> general@jakarta.apache.org (shared)
> private@jakarta.apache.org (shared)
> We would like the following e-mail lists:
> commits@jmeter.apache.org - for SVN commits (currently goes to notifications@jakarta.apache.org)
> dev@jmeter.apache.org - probably not possible to migrate existing subscribers as the existing list is shared.
> user@jmeter.apache.org - ideally migrate all subscribers from jmeter-user@jakarta.apache.org
> issues@jmeter.apache.org - for Bugzilla (currently goes to notifications@jakarta.apache.org)
> private@jmeter.apache.org

<danielsh> It seems that http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/deltacloud-user/ and http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/jmeter-user/ are both broken, but in different ways. (not mod_mbox'd v. not full-history-mod_mbox'd)
