[DISCUSS] Apache IoTDB 0.8.1 (incubating) RC2 release

Hi all,

I would like to lay emphasis on that the binary archive is NOT a release ... please refer to them as (convenience) binary distribution.
Even if it may seem strange: Apache only releases source code and in the past there have been quite some issues with projects calling the binaries "releases".

Please keep this in mind.

And I agree with Justin: It might be better for the mentors to keep back their votes until the PPMC would have at least passed the Vote on it's own
as in the past it seems as soon as the 3 +1 votes have been reached most PPMC members seem to have not bothered on voting.

Chris

Hi,

Repeating what Chris has stated. Why are binary releases being discussed in the vote thread over source releases? Apache projects release source code not binaries.

Thanks,
Justin

Hi,

It also not enough to check that a release has a NOTICE, LICENSE and DISCLAIMER file, you need to check the contents of those files and how they match with the contents of the release.

Thanks,
Justin
