When a podling is retired, the mailing lists are shut down.
Mails to the lists are returned with a message which says:

"Hi. This is the qmail-send program at apache.org.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

The project is retired. See https://attic.apache.org"

However podlings are not handled by Attic.

The bounce message for podlings ought to be changed to something more useful.
