Im seeing `make check`  hanging when building 0.18.0 on ubuntu 10.04 and 14.04.    

Seeing this on 10.04.  Was able to build/check/install 0.17.0 fine.

repeats forever

ubuntu 14.04 doesnt have the ZK output but just sits there forever at
