Transformer is unable to proces <xsl:attribute name="even-id"> if  xml:space="preserve"  attribute is set in parent. Please find attached XSL

Happens as describe on xml-xalan from CVS 15-oct-01 7pm. Sample test case 
checked in. Could this have something to do with our recent changes handling 
the default xml: namespace? Compare & contrast to whitespace20.xsl
