[users@httpd] Integrated Authentication

I am running an Intranet server, and have the need to obtain the user's PC
login name (win2k PCs via Active Directory)

I have a (Mandrake 9.0) Linux server running
Apache-AdvancedExtranetServer/1.3.26. I have installed mod_ntlm on this box,
this works OK.
Occassionally the server will refuse to authenticate a user throwing a
'SMB_Logon_Server: Error sending SessSetupX request' error in
/tmp/mod_ntlm.log. It can take 5 or 6 attempts before it will let anyone log
in.

What does this error message mean and how can I go about fixing it ??

Or failing that, can anyone suggest an alternative method to obtain the
user's PC login name. (this is a secure Intranet, with no external
connectivity)
