Binding to multiple IP addresses, but not to localhost
Summary: Binding to multiple IP addresses, but not to localhost
Product: Tomcat 4
Version: 4.1.0
Platform: Sun
OS/Version: Solaris
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: Other
Component: Connector:Coyote HTTP/1.1
AssignedTo: tomcat-dev@jakarta.apache.org
ReportedBy: randy.hoffman@schoolspecialty.com
When binding to ip aliases on the same machine, same nic, localhost is bound to
as well. Example...
server address - 10.10.10.1
alias 1 - 10.10.10.2
alias 2 - 10.10.10.3
When running an instance of tomcat binding on alias 1, localhost also gets
bound on same port.
When running another instance of tomcat on alias 2, same port, startup fails
because attempted bind of localhost fails even though address to use is alias 2.
