I guess we could add a copy of [https://commons.apache.org/proper/commons-lang/javadocs/api-3.4/org/apache/commons/lang3/exception/ExceptionUtils.html#getStackTrace%28java.lang.Throwable%29] to org.codehaus.groovy.runtime.StackTraceUtils

> Project: Groovy
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: groovy-jdk
> Affects Versions: 2.4.4

> Priority: Minor

> It would be very handy if Groovy JDK provided a method in {{Throwable}} to get the printed stack trace as a string.
> This would save the user to call the default {{printStackTrace(PrintWriter)}} method with a {{StringWriter}} and retrieve the result from there.
