Custom Events and Listeners / RI Examples

Dear all,

I’ve been experimenting with custom JSF components for
a while, but I still can’t understand what is the
proper way to make custom components generate and
consume new event types. Unfortunately I haven’t been
able to find any examples that demonstrate this on the
web, so if anyone can provide any links/example
source, it would be great.

At first, I tried working through the TabbedPane
component example from the RI samples to get an idea
of what is going on… The example is pretty “simple”,
it defines a PaneComponent used to draw tabs, and when
a user clicks on them a PaneSelectedEvent is
generated/queued and consumed.

Unfortunately the example didn’t work when I
substituted RI with MyFaces, which confused me even
more! The event seems to be getting lost *somewhere*,
and so you always end up viewing the default tab. Has
anyone else tried this?

Are there any differences between the two
implementations that might affect this example?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Mario
