[Bug 120482] Lack of a certain Dictionary does not prevent from spellcheking in that language

We have not yet released a version of Apache OpenOffice for Polish yet. 

But if you are using the English UI you can always install the Polish
dictionary extension: 
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/pl-dict

Now, if you intentionally set the character style for a selection to another
language, you are shown then, in the UI, which languages have dictionaries
installed and which do not.  So you should be able to make an informed decision
at that point.   

But it sounds like we do not do a similar check at startup when the UI locale
is automatically set to a language which does not have a dictionary installed?
