Whilst attempting to prune repository.apache.org/snapshots for dated and deprecated snapshot artefact's I've hit a couple of hurdles; namely when I login to Nexus.
Click on "Repositories"
Click on "Snapshots hosted" N.B. I am NOT using the "Snapshots group" link.
Navigate to appropriate directory e.g. org.deri.any23
right click to delete the directory and delete the file(s).

I get a error processing/deleting selected files

Taking Sebb's comments on board, maybe there is an issue with the protections?

Resolution: Won't Fix
Because org.deri.any23 was never added _officially_ to repository.a.o, non-admins will not be able to remove these artifacts.
In order to perform a release for any23 (via repository.a.o) you will need to create a jira to get the project added, see: http://www.apache.org/dev/publishing-maven-artifacts.html
In the jira include the list of deprecated paths ( is it just org/deri/ ? ) to be removed.
*NOTE:* once org.apache.any23 is added to repository.a.o you will have access to remove snapshots under org/apache/any23/
