Scenarios
I'm curious if ServiceMix 4.4.2 is capable of handling:
1.) Two services on the same machine connected to the bus can communicate
with each other
2.) Two services on different machines connected to the bus can communicate
with each other, and the only change from 1.) is a message bus configuration
3.) A set of service instances can be load balanced as one service address

yes, of course.
Actually Servicemix itself is an OSGi container.

Alright, I made a note about it being a legacy system.
Is it possible for ServiceMix to be deployed on an OSGi container?

For communication between bundles in ServiceMix I would strongly recommend
JMS(ActiveMQ). I had read several times that NMR is a legacy technology.

Hi RJ,
my comments inline:

Yes, it can use the NMR for that, but if the services are on two
different instances on the same machines, JMS may be more appropriate.

Yes, if you use NMR, you can rely on a JMS transport.
However, my advice would be to use Camel directly and transport using
REST, JMS, or any kind of transport.

Camel provides an EIP named LoadBalancer:

I've recently installed ServiceMix 4.4.2 and have worked through the
Quickstart Guide successfully.
I would greatly appreciate any advice on the above scenarios. If a link to a
tutorial may be provided in regard to scenarios that would be very helpful.
