Voting Ki because should the the project choose to start integrating with
other languages (.NET for example) it can do so without being tied to Java
in its name.

Great. Let us know when it's done so we don't end up with two JIRA
projects.

I think that all one needs to do is to make a new KI project and bulk
move the issues over. Then there's a special "fix it" page to stick
up the loose bits after the move.

Based on the name change from JSecurity to Ki, we would like to change
the JIRA key from JSEC to KI (capital K, capital I).
I'm a jira admin but I don't know how to rename a project. If you can
send me detailed instructions (or just give me the SQL admin
password ;-) I can make the change.
If it's more complex than filling a web form then please someone else
handle this for us.

Yes - I think so. If we're going to rename the project, let's do it
right. Everything should be renamed.

The new name for JSecurity has been chosen, Ki, with 7 votes to 5.
Many thanks to all those who participated in the vote and many more
thanks who stuck it through all the lengthy discussions.
Sigh, and now for the not so fun task of changing our infrastructure.
Please wait on changing our packages until we get an ACK from the
Incubator PMC.

I would like to give JSec a chance. It's close to JSecurity, and as far
as I checked on the web, I didn't saw any collision with any java and
security stuff.
The only collision is with the various "Job Service Employer Committee"
in the USA. If it can help people in the IT industry to get a job ... ;)

I'm not a huge fan of either of these names honestly. I like that Ki
("key") can use the lock/key illustration, but I don't like the way it
sounds in a sentence "We use Ki for security in our project."
Still, it's the better choice out of these names.

Of course this is my opinion, but I don't like the sound of JSec at all - it
sounds too abrupt to me for some reason. It doesn't roll off the toungue
like Ki (to me). JAY-sec just sounds - I dunno - fragmented.
Ki, ala "key", is short, sweet, and pronounceable by pretty much anyone,
regardless of their native tongue.
Most of all perhaps, is the branding capabilities and the identity that can
be formed around the name - Ki, Key, Lock and Ki, etc, etc. I can't see
anything meaningful or clever that can be done with Jsec.
My .02.
