branch reference implementation

Hi all,

as we are approaching the final stage of jsr-170 we are building the
packages needed for submission to sun. one part is the reference
implementation, which is based on jackrabbit.

we are currently using svn:externals with revision numbers to reference
a certain development state of jackrabbit to package it for the
reference implementation.

to make this process easier i would like to create a branch for this
purpose in jackrabbit. e.g. something like 'ri-1.0' (other suggestions
are very welcome). This is not meant to be the 1.0 release of
jackrabbit! even though we are probably not very far away from that
point. but that's a different topic we have to discuss.

are there any objections, comments?

regards
  marcel

Hi all,

I have just created a branch of jackrabbit: ri-1.0
which will be the basis for the reference implementation. please only
check in changes to the branch that are relevant to the reference
implementation. further development is done in the trunk and most
checkins will occur there.

thanks

Please keep in mind that this is only the revision / branch of
jackrabbit that forms the basis for the reference implementation.
However this will not be the 1.0 Jackrabbit release!
There are still some areas that probably need some more work / tests
before we can release Jackrabbit as production stable. I'm thinking of
areas like performance, scalabilty, tools, etc. well all that stuff,
which is not part of a specification, but still is very important.

The api is available at:

0.16.4.* are only available to the EG (due to some license
limitations). The next opportunity to see a public spec will be when
the Final Approval Ballot is through and become public.

Cheers

Hello,

I'm glad to hear the 1.0 is reaching the home stretch !

I'm eager to test the baby.
As soon as the branch will be created, I'll be able to provide feedback.

By the way, do you know where i can find the release 0.16.4.1 of the
specifications. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the jcp web site only
propose 0.16.3.
A part the kind post from "port to jcr api v0.16.4.1", do we have other
doc on what changed from 0.16.2 ?
Or does the post cover all the changes ?

Keep up the good work,
Bertrand.
