When debugging Hive with the {{--debug}} option, Hive will fail when starting a local task, and give the following error message:

Error occurred during initialization of VMERROR: Cannot load this JVM TI agent twice, check your java command line for duplicate jdwp options.

agent library failed to init: jdwp
Execution failed with exit status: 1
Obtaining error information

Task failed!
