For the point 3 I went with the OFBIZ-7792 demos.patch.

But I'm not sure everybody would agree on it. Because it breaks the design where you have either 1 page or sub-menus with pages. With this patch you have both which could be confusing. I though like the idea of quickly getting to the demo I want :)
