Numbering And Bullets

I Am Running Open Office 4.1.11 And I Cannot Get The Numbering And 
Bullets To Shut Off And Stay Shut Off.

When Making A Numbered List I Want To Do My Own Positioning Of The 
Numbers And Items On The List.

I Have Been In Every Menu Concerning The Numbered List And It Will Not 
Stay Shut Off, As Soon As I Touch
The Keyboard It Is Back.

How Can I Get This To Shut Off And STAY Shut Off ?
