Url Validation Configuration Options
Summary: Url Validation Configuration Options
Product: Struts
Version: Nightly Build
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Enhancement
Priority: Other
Component: Validator Framework
AssignedTo: struts-dev@jakarta.apache.org
ReportedBy: niall.pemberton@blueyonder.co.uk
The current url validation in struts (validateUrl method in FieldChecks) only
uses the default url configuration options.
I am attaching a patch that will allow the following options to be set in the
validation.xml file using variables.
1) variable allow2slashes can be set to true of false to configure whether two
slashes are allowed or not.
2) variable nofragments can be set to true of false to configure whether
fragments are allowed or not.
3) variable allowallschemes can be set to true of false to configure whether
all schemes are allowed or not.
4) variable schemes can bet set to a comma delimited list of valid schemes
All these variables are optional and if not specified will use the UrlValidator
class default.
I haven't been able to test the "nofragments" option - all the values I passed
to it gave the same result with the option switched both on and off - I did
display the options being passed to the UrlValidator class and it was being set
as expected, but if someone could supply a valid "fragment" that I could test.
